The Panasonic TOUGHBOOK rugged laptop lineup has several mission critical industry certifications. The following are certifications that should be a part of your search when looking for the right rugged computer. This list does not suggest that all TOUGHBOOK products have these certifications but that there are TOUGHBOOK products that meet a combination of these certifications.
- Ingress Protection
- This protects the computer against physical particulates like dust and sand. This also protects the computer against liquid. We have a blog that goes deeper into MIL-STD-810H standards that gives more specifics of what to look for in an IP rating.
- MIL-STD-810H
- A certification developed by the US Department of Defense to ensure equipment can withstand rugged environments.
- MIL-STD-461G/F
- Products meeting this certification are built to have dramatically reduced electromagnetic interference, or EMI, which is oftentimes very important in environments that need to have a large amount of electronics operating in a tight area.
- Class 1 Div 2
- The American National Standards Institute, or ANSI, has created a series of certifications that allow for electronics to operate in flammable environments. Technology meeting ANSI standards have varying degrees of protections in place to assure there are no sparks generated while operating the product.
- Energy STAR Qualification
- The United States Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Department of Energy came together to create a qualification that standardizes energy efficiency and sustainability the use and manufacture of electronics.
- EPEAT Certification
- By meeting this certification standard the manufacturer can go above and beyond minimum market expectations for environmentally friendly sustainable manufacturing practices.
- ISO Certification
- All of the manufacturing plants owned and operated by Panasonic meet ISO 14001 standards. The Panasonic factories in Kobe and the North American headquarters are certified for ISO 9001. This allows Panasonic’s customers to know they make products of the highest quality with an excellent quality assurance program.
- RoHS Compliance
- Complying to this standard ensures products are lead free.
- VPAT & Section 508 Standards
- Technologies meeting this standard are made in such a way to have designs and special capabilities that allow persons with disabilities to better operate the products.
